Job Summary
Under the supervision of the LMS and Mobile App Administrator, this position serves the role of primary front-line Learning Management System (LMS) support providing faculty comprehensive instructional design consultations to enhance and develop teaching and learning, with a focus on utilizing academic technology for on-line, hybrid, hyflex, blended, and web-enhanced course designs. The Learning Technology Specialist is expected to be a technical and functional expert and knowledge transfer agent for all instructional technology tools supported by ATS. The incumbent will be responsible for creating technical documentation, developing training workshops, testing existing and prospective technologies, and collaborating with other ATS staff such as instructional designers, multimedia developers, and others.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the campus Learning Management System, video conferencing and all other supported instructional technology tools.
- Assist with testing and creating technical documentation and resources for all supported instructional technology tool features and respective releases/updates.
- Work collaboratively as a team to support, develop, and conduct academic technology training workshops and materials for faculty on the campus LMS and other ATS supported technologies.
- Support instructional design consultants and technologists in providing faculty consultations focused on utilizing ATS supported technologies to create web-enhanced, blended, hybrid, and online courses to enhance student learning experience.
Ability to apply instructional design theories and methodologies. Experience in instructional design and development for online and hybrid learning. Ability to work independently, possessing the experience and credentials to be fully proficient in performing most or all the work assignments defined for this position; ability to provide effective technical coordination of projects and/or provide work direction to others. Knowledge of instructional design and the technology-enhanced design process. Demonstrated experience with student-centered learning and learning theories; outcomes based curricular design and program development; technology-enhanced teaching and learning including learning management systems, webinars, video conferencing, ePortfolios, and technology used in instructional efforts enhancing teaching and learning. Recognize and understand federal and state access laws that relate to making instructional materials accessible in accordance with the California State University's Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI). Expert knowledge of effective instructional uses of a learning management system such as Blackboard, Desire2Learn or Canvas. Knowledge of current copyright regulations and intellectual property concepts as they relate to the academic environment. Working knowledge of multiple computer operating systems i.e., Mac and Windows. Ability to describe complicated technology topics in a non-technical manner and maintain confidentiality. Comprehensive understanding of educational environments, especially related to the role of technology in all aspects of these environments. Familiarity of multimedia development, MS Office products, wireless technologies, basic to advanced web-enhanced, blended, online development, and graphic software packages. Possess excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills, flexibility, good customer service attitude, attention to detail, and be able to work collaboratively. An ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks is essential.

Education and Experience
Required: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field and two (2) years of experience providing training and support to faculty and students in higher education environments required; three (3) years preferred.
Preferred: Minimum of two (2) years of experience designing and developing online courses using Canvas LMS or other learning management systems, or two (2) years of related instructional design experience in higher education and training. Master's degree in Instructional Design and/or Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or equivalent professional related field and two years of related experience. Digital E-Portfolio highlighting experience and projects experience.
Licenses / Certificates
Online Teaching Certification or similar preferred.

Compensation
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,678 - $11,547 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for two (2) years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
