Enterprise Systems Administrator Analyst

Ball State University Information Technology is seeking a highly motivated employee to manage, maintain, and oversee Ball State University’s enterprise virtualization platforms. This position will be responsible for the on premise enterprise virtualization platforms including support of hardware, operating systems, security, data protection, performance, and uptime of the environment.

Position Function:

Oversee and manage the multi-user servers utilized across campus; administer the university’s enterprise class server operating systems and monitoring infrastructure; work with networking and security groups to ensure current security policies and compliance is maintained; provide Tier 2 support for operating system issues and/or problems experienced by a department’s local administrator; coordinate the reporting of potential bugs to Microsoft.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Or, in lieu of Bachelor’s degree: Associate’s Degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to 2 years. Or, high school diploma or GED plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to four years

Minimum Experience:

Three or more years of experience in systems analysis and administration on enterprise server operating systems and enterprise virtualization platforms.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related technical field.

Preferred Experience:

Experience with distributed file systems, storage layout and design, software / firmware patching and remediation, and integration of complex computer systems. Experience with standard network protocols such as TCP-IP, iSCSI and SSH. Experience with scripting tasks using PowerShell, managing Active Directory, and configuring folder and share permissions in troubleshooting/ resolving highly complex integration issues involving multiple technologies, across multiple platforms and datacenters (both on premise and cloud based); experience with VMware; experience with Windows Server operating systems; experience with Linux; project management skills.
