Job Summary

The role of the University Open Computer Lab Assistant is to offer support to students and escalate technical issues when necessary. They are responsible for monitoring the usage and upkeep of computers, printers, and other equipment available in the Horn Center Computer Lab at the university.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and technical support to students and faculty on-site.
  • Act as a liaison between students and technical resources.
  • Manage inventory of equipment and supplies.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to approach tasks and responsibilities collaboratively to work within the core values of Academic Technology Services. The ability to use with both Windows and Apple OS systems preferred. Ability to take initiative and organize, coordinate, and work in a high-paced office with accurate results. Ability to work cooperatively with all faculty, staff, and students to ensure processes are completed accurately and efficiently. Ability to carry out multiple tasks and priorities. Strong attention to detail. Ability to monitor and review information and identify discrepancies. Experience in tracking and organizing information. Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to four (4) years of administrative support experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related technical field.

  • Experience providing user or customer support services in private or public organization and Higher education institution.

  • Experience utilizing the Internet to research and resolve common technology problems in common software applications.

  • Experience working with enterprise ticketing systems such as TeamDynamix or BMC Footprints preferred.

  • Experience in a higher education technology team a plus.
    Physical Summary

    Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.
    Licenses / Certificates

    CA Driver License preferred. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month
    Benefits

    Time Base

    Full-time temporary position for two (2) years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. This incumbent in this position may be required to work nights and weekends.
