Educational Requirements for the Position

Bachelor’s degree in related field. Two years related experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

The Digital Creative Specialist is responsible for curating, creating, and sharing written and visual content to promote the Sam Houston State University College of Education programs and brand awareness across multiple platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs highly advanced specialist duties. Creatively thinks and translates ideas into sharable content that connects with target audiences. Assists with development of content strategy across relevant channels. Solid understanding of digital video and social media platforms, including but not limited to: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Utilizes modern design aesthetics, information, and public design. Responsible for design in Adobe Creative Suite. Develops video and graphic designs for use in multiple digital and print formats. Performs the planning and producing of photo/video shoots and completes all post-production processing. Works creatively under the pressure of short deadlines. Maintains camera equipment and makes recommendations regarding photographic equipment and supplies as needed. Trains others in job tasks pertinent to photography/videography/design. Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence. Adheres to University branding guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Strong writing, grammar, and proofreading skills. Detail oriented and strong problem solving and communication skills (both written and verbal). Experience with information and publication design. Working knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite. Previous experience using a Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera (Sony preferred).

Position may require occasional work at night and during weekends according to the needs of the department. May be required to work at indoor and outdoor events. Must be able to physically move camera and lighting equipment as needed.
