The Isabel Patterson Child Development Center (IPCDC) Cook is responsible for the full range of duties associated with the implementation of a daily nutrition program for approximately 170 preschool and school age children and 25 adult caregivers who sit with children during mealtimes. These tasks encompass menu planning, meal preparation for breakfast, lunch, and snack, shopping for food supplies, placing orders, receiving, and inventorying deliveries, cleaning, and organizing equipment, utensils, and work storage areas. The IPCDC Cook must also make additional arrangements for children with dietary needs and restrictions, ensuring that the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines are adhered to, including record-keeping and compliance with all licensing and public health regulations, as well as the IPCDC meal and children's program policies and procedures, which include following guidelines for interacting with children. The incumbent must provide impartial, inclusive, and culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of life on campus, utilizing a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service endeavors.
- Preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and snacks for program participants.
- Creation of a four-week menu cycle plan.
- Maintenance of documentation and record-keeping related to meal planning and service, including inventory tracking and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Responsible for kitchen upkeep, including cleaning, organization, and maintenance of equipment and appliances.
- Experience with providing instruction and training to other employees including cook assistants and Infant/toddler center cook.
- Experience with meal and menu planning.
- Must present knowledge of previous food purchasing and ordering in large quantities, receiving, inventorying supplies and detailed record-keeping.
- Experience with reporting documentation as requested (i.e. CACFP Grant reporting), preferred.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General GED is required.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in planning, cooking and distribution of foods in large quantities.
- Must possess a valid Driver's license. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program. Must present proof of valid personal auto insurance.
- Live Scan required.
Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.
Licenses / Certificates
Must possess a valid California Food Safe Serve Certification.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,088 - $4,844 per month
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Full-time temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. This position is an 11/12 month schedule, off month is July.
