Social Scientist (Program Director)
$160,889 – $206,279 • yearly
National Science Foundation
Job Description
The Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences Directorate (SBE) supports research, education, and infrastructure in the social, behavioral and economic sciences, primarily through grants to investigators at universities and other institutions. The broadening participation program director manages SBE’s activities and investments aimed at broadening participation in STEM. This includes SBE’s Build and Broaden Program, which aims to enhance participation of Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in NSF-supported research and increase research capacity at MSIs. This program compliments the suite of activities in SBE that share broadening participation goals and reflects administration priorities, the National Science Board's 2030 vision, as well as agency priority goals. In managing SBE's activities focused on broadening participation, the program director actively encourages participation by junior faculty, women, members of historically underrepresented groups. They also encourage proposals from a wide range of institutions, including MSIs, research undergraduate institutions and institutions in jurisdictions that receive a disproportionately small percentage of NSF funding for research and development.
This announcement will be filled as an IPA, VSEE, or Fed Temp appointment, with a salary range of $160,889 - $206,279.
