In the role of Grants Operations Associate working in our Cancer Center. The Grants Operations Associate coordinates the pre-award planning, organization, and preparation (major emphasis), and the post-award administration (minor emphasis) of various grants assigned to one or more research and/or clinical departments. Interacts with investigators and administrative staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements. Provides guidance and support to investigators in the identification and development of grant opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews, and edits grants and contracts documents.
  2. Prepares, reviews, and monitors grant related budgets and finances.
  3. Coordinates grant submission and proposal activities, including calendaring team meetings.
  4. Takes notes at team meetings and follows up with minutes and action items.
  5. Reviews grant compliance with IRB protocol and clinical trials procedures
  6. Creates and verifies biosketches.
  7. Expedites grant submissions and evaluates grant quality
  8. Assists in the creation, negotiation, and administration of grants, contracts, and research proposals.
  9. Assist in recruitment and training of program staff.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree
Prior Expereince: 2 years of experience
Preferred Field of Study: Liberal arts; Science; or Business
Certification: None required

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

*Experience in grant proposal and submission processes in an academic research setting, accounting, administration, and English language.

*Experience coordinating team science grant planning activities ideal but not required.

*Knowledge of funding agencies and regulations relevant to scientific research.

*Work requires resource management, mathematics, problem solving, coordinating work activities, critical thinking, systems analysis, operations analysis, time management, writing, editing, active listening, and active learning skills.

*Speech clarity, finger dexterity, and wrist-finger speed while operating computers.

*Knowledge/experience with system to system grant submissions, and federal grant application systems such as ASSIST, eBRAP, is preferred.
