Job Description

DESCRIPTION The Health Care Transformation Strategist will be responsible for developing and conducting work related to community need and health system assessment, capacity building and strengthening for local, state, and regional agencies, as well as foundations, provider networks, hospital systems, accountable care organizations, service providers, and community coalitions. This work requires extensive experience with and understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods, community and provider engagement, planning and facilitation skills, strategic planning, and reporting and dissemination. This work also requires technical expertise and knowledge of the full continuum of clinical and non-clinical health-related services (e.g., public health, social service, community health, primary care, behavioral health, hospital, post-acute, etc.) as well as the structures, systems, and processes that promote service integration, care coordination, care transitions, workforce development, and health information exchange. Finally, this work requires an understanding and appreciation for issues of equity and the disparities that exist for certain segments of the population who have been disproportionately impacted by social factors. JSI has significant work in this area currently, although somewhat limited geographically. We see this position as an important opportunity to further leverage our existing expertise and expand it to different areas or clients.   • Business development, including identifying opportunities and new clients, and leading proposal development and pricing
  • Contributing to strategic business development at a cross-divisional level to leverage health transformation work
  • Project leadership, management, and implementation
  • Developing overall project approach
  • Conducting program, community, and system assessment activities as lead of project or as member of project team
  • Leading project teams of various sizes through providing overall vision, delegating tasks, and overseeing quality and timeliness of all deliverables
  • Conducting strategic planning, including facilitating groups of various types of stakeholders and sizes
  • Developing well-founded recommendations
  • Disseminating findings through written reports, presentations, and other dissemination modalities
  • Mentoring junior staff as a means of continuing to grow this aspect of JSI’s work
  • Developing and nurturing external partnerships to further enhance our capacity to conduct this work
  • Working with communications team to disseminate knowledge and experience from projects and to market to clients
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters degree and at least ten years of experience post degree or bachelors degree and at least 13 years of experience post degree in assessment, planning and health system strengthening projects. At least five years of experience in consulting and/or strategy development related to health systems or public health.
  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse groups and individuals to recognize, innovate, and engage in assessment, community engagement, and strategic planning.
  • Commitment to advancing health and racial equity through internal organizational practices and external project work
  • Proven track record conducting projects across varied settings independently as well as with small and large project teams.
  • Knowledge of public health, health systems, and health equity and familiarity with services and programs related to public health, social determinants of health, primary care, behavioral health, hospital services, and post-acute care.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse lay and professional audiences.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working with State Medicaid offices, ACOs, hospital/provider networks, and municipalities/regions
  • Experience working with mission-driven organizations.

Salary commensurate with experience.
