Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, the Legislative Aide will work closely with the Director of Government Relations and the Senior Vice President for Policy and Federal Relations, assisting and advancing HACU’s legislative affairs and supporting outreach to Hispanic Serving Institutions. The Legislative Aide will monitor federal and state legislation. The Legislative Aide will collaborate with other HACU staff to develop and enhance relationships with HACU member institutions. The Legislative Aide will lead in planning government relations events in Washington D.C. and support existing programming. Additionally, the Legislative Aide will oversee the Washington D.C. social media accounts and website updates. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, or legislative material required. Ability to draft reports, legislative/business correspondence, and procedure manuals required. Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in political science, public policy, or related field. 1-3 years of legislative experience or proficiency required. Bilingual-English/Spanish Skills a Plus. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. (Located in Washington, DC)
