DESCRIPTION

The Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB), partnership with the Global People Officer, will be responsible for fully developing, articulating, and implementing a global vision and strategy for the organization’s EDIB work. This position will have the unique opportunity to develop and execute programs and systems that bring JSI’s most important principles to life. This role works with every leader and department in the organization ensuring that all of our teams, managers, leaders, and staff at all levels have a universal experience of equity, inclusion, and belonging.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • In partnership with the GPO, lead efforts to establish a multiyear global vision and strategy for the organization’s EDIB work that is aligned with JSI’s overall strategic priorities and direction, its culture, mission and values and develop all aspects of critical EDIB commitments and investments across every corner of the organization.
  • Lead the work of operationalizing the EDIB strategy and vision, including partnering closely with other senior leaders throughout the enterprise while partnering closely with every division and/or country to develop a specific plan for their department including annual equity audits.
  • In collaboration with the enterprise-wide HR team, develop metrics for measuring JSI-wide, department, and individual employee performance on EDIB key performance indicators; oversee metrics collection; evaluate results, and provide intervention recommendations.
  • Build and lead a team of EDIB professionals; manage, develop, and support the growth of the team.
  • Serve as an internal and external ambassador for EDIB principles and practices for JSI; this includes working in concert with our Communications team to create, build, and market our EDIB brand.
  • Represent the EDIB strategy in all staff spaces and throughout the global organization, including but not limited to, Employee Resource Groups, monthly Roundtables, Leadership Roundtable, Town Hall Meetings, etc.
  • Serve as a coach and counselor to senior leaders and managers on matters of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and forums through which staff members can have authentic conversations, strategize around EDIB issues and share their thoughts, hopes and concerns with the organization.
  • Partner with the Global People Officer to ensure centrality of EDIB values and practices in all aspects of the organization’s governance, human resources and people management structure; particularly in recruitment, onboarding, retention, professional development, performance management, and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field, with 15+ years in human resources or related experience, of which, at least 10 years must be at a sr. manager or director level., with at least 5 years’ experience in an international organization.
  • Significant, demonstrated track record of leadership in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion including race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability, in an international setting.
  • Significant proven experience in a senior leadership position in the field of EDIB including developing and implementing a strategic plan, establishing metrics, measuring progress, and managing resources.
  • Demonstrable track record of success in leading and driving organizational change and results, building and managing teams of people, facilitating strategic decision making, and developing and managing complex projects.
  • Recent experience with managing international HRMS and demonstrated history of inspiring employees to adopt best practices in HR.
  • Compelling and naturally persuasive communication skills with the ability to influence the direction of the ultimate outcome in a collaborative manner; ability to communicate decisions in a style that reflects a team-oriented culture.
  • Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches to affect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity, and development of EDIB within the organization.
  • Solid professional presence with excellent communication and operational instincts; good strategic skills and sound business judgment.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting multiple projects simultaneously with a solid focus on results.
  • Dynamic leadership and interpersonal skills including persuasion, coaching, facilitation, and conflict resolution.
  • Proficient in leading, attracting, hiring, retaining, and developing high-performing teams and individuals.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% or as needed.
