Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the President: The Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the President (CSSAP) provides general coordination and oversight for staff, particularly for members of the President’s Cabinet, and acts on behalf of the President and CEO as needed. This broad role includes managing HACU’s Strategic Plan, preparing speeches and presentations, recommending organizational and programmatic enhancements, coordinating of HACU’s governance functions, reviewing and editing of correspondence and media items, acting as HACU’s ombudsperson, and conducting other tasks that may be assigned by the President and CEO. The incumbent carries these major assignments in close collaboration with all departments and staff involved, particularly in consultation with other direct reports of the President and CEO. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business, governmental and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information in written reports and in verbal presentations to top management, Federal agencies/departments, public groups, higher education organizations, members of the business community, members of Hispanic organizations, and/or governing board of directors. Master's degree in Public Administration, Higher Education, or social science or law degree with knowledge of Federal legislation and policy analysis, preferably in higher education or social science. Five years of relevant professional experience with demonstrated career progression. Exceptional people skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and Spanish language proficiency (preferred but not required). (Located in San Antonio, TX)
