SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid, the Associate Director assumes responsibility for specific process within the Office of Financial Aid. He/she will have primary focus on the day-to-day oversight and management of the professional and support staff, participate in the review and creation of office policies and serve as a member of the management team.


  • In conjunction with the management team, he/she will ensure staff are adhering to policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the Financial Aid office functions under compliance regulations and guidelines. In addition, recommend any policy changes.

  • Conduct monthly customer service review and set expectations and goals, as needed for Support Staff and Professional Counselors.

  • Oversees all financial student aid matters pertaining to the Study Abroad Program.

  • Oversee direct day-to-day financial aid operations and supervise personnel who carry out individual duties and provide updates to the Director as necessary.

  • Supervises staff to: maintain revisions to student packaging; which includes: verification, professional judgement reviews, manual spring and summer awarding, pre-disbursement aid adjustments, plus loan credit decision awarding, loan validation/origination error corrections.

  • Provide related on-the-job training to staff as needed.

  • Direct workflow processes to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of financial aid to new and continuing students and evaluate opportunities for improved business operations.

  • Ensures accuracy of information to prospective and current undergraduate, graduate and certificate students and parents regarding application procedures for financial aid.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Maintaining Vacation/Sick/Comp Time, attending Financial Aid Workshops/Open Houses, etc.

EXPERIENCE: At least three years’ experience in financial aid administration with a demonstrated managerial responsibility.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree Preferred


  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to financial aid.

  • Experience with COD, NSLDS, Knowledge Center, FAA Access

  • Knowledge of financial aid software; such as Oracle PeopleSoft, EdConnect, etc.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and decision-making ability
