Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), the Assistant Director of the Latinx Resource Center will provide support and coordination that impacts the success of the Latinx Resource Center and its culturally diverse students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and coordinates programs, services, and activities that enhance student learning, development, and success.
- Collaborate and develop programs offered by Orientation, the Office of Student Life & Developments, Cultural Centers, Dean of Students, the Division of Student Affairs, and other University constituents which affect the well-being of all students as assigned.
- Provide guidance, organization, and oversight to the African American Student Center.
- Counsel and advise students on concerns related to interpersonal issues, academic concerns, career interests and identity development.
- Support other initiatives, programs, and operations of Office of Multicultural Affairs.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to initiate and problem solve.
- Demonstrated skill in conducting research, developing reports, and presenting findings. Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures to define problem or objective, identify relevant concerns or factors, formulate logical objective conclusions, recognize alternatives and their implications and in generating solutions to problems as they arise.
- Skill in working independently with minimal direction, in setting priorities and schedules and in identifying and adhering to departmental objectives. Ability to apply independent, reasoned judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough, and technically accurate solutions.
- General knowledge of CSU/CSULB admissions requirements and procedures; academic offerings; and student support services.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings. A flexible work time as needed and determined by operational needs.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience - Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and three (3) years of professional experience in one of the student affairs programs areas required.
- Master's Degree in student development in higher education, ethnic/cultural studies, counseling, or related field, preferred.

- Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: $5,025 - $5,500 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,025 - $7,159 per month.

Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
