Job Description
Ball State University invites applications for the position of Director of the Center for Information and Communication Sciences, CICS. For over three and a half decades this innovative and intense 11 month, interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial graduate/professional program has successfully combined theory and practical learning in information and communication sciences, leading to a 90%+ employment rate in a wide range of private and public organizations. Through a curriculum that serves as the nexus for technology, business, and policy, students from a wide range of backgrounds have been successful on five continents around the globe, with over 2000 alumni in leadership roles and successful careers.
More recently, the Center successfully began an online degree program which U.S. News and World Report ranked in the top 20 programs nationally. The Wall Street Journal ranked the CICS degree as #1 in degree value.
In the past year, the Center also welcomed the undergraduate Computer and Information Technology undergraduate program, a Bachelor of Science degree program of long-standing at Ball State. In addition to the academic program elements, the Center also provides a broad-ranging Student Social Learning Program to help students as they grow professionally.
The new Director will have the opportunity to evolve this student-centered leader in the field to the next set of opportunities and success.

The Center is housed within the College of Communication Information and Media – one of the largest and most technologically advanced communication colleges in the United States. The Director reports to the CCIM Dean.

Position Function: Directs the operation of the Center for Information and Communication Sciences, including the academic programs, research and service activities, production and development connected to the Center. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Communication, Information and Media (CCIM). Reporting to this position will be all faculty, professional and administrative staff assigned to the Center.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. At least 10 years of technology industry experience; five years of leadership/management and administrative experience, relationship management, external funding activity, and teaching and higher education experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher education.
