Job Summary
The Director of the Graduate Center (GC) is responsible for oversight of all operations of the Center which provides student support for an estimated 5,000 graduates students on campus including academic advising, writing support, and academic programming. The Director supervises staff, hiring, office budget, and administrative operations for the GC, as well as supports the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Dean of Graduate Studies with oversight of campus-wide graduate student success initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operations of the Graduate Center and Strategic Graduate Studies initiatives.
  • Oversee Graduate Center staff, hiring, office budget, and administrative operations.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data of GC for reporting to appropriate university stakeholders.
  • Manage Graduate Travel Fellowship program including oversight of $60,000 budget.
  • Coordinate Sally Casanova Pre-Doctoral Scholarship Program.
  • Provide leadership for campus-wide committees.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of related experience required.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree, Ph.D., or Ed.D.
  • Experience with team and/or project management (e.g., supervision, tracking, monitoring, budgeting).
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience working in higher education

Compensation
The salary range for this classification is $5,908 to $11,481 per month.
Benefits
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
