Job Summary
The Equipment Technician III-Mechanical works under the supervision of the Associate Dean of the College of Engineering. The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and electrical downstream from circuit breaker and/or disconnect, operating the machine shop, and the design, fabrication, installation and construction of unique, highly technical and prototype equipment or systems in the College of Engineering.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate all machine shop equipment and assist in the design and construction of research equipment and classroom experimental apparatus. Ability to provide assistance to faculty and students for their class projects, including instruction on the proper use of equipment and lab safety. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the construction, installation, maintenance, repair and operation of equipment in the areas of Engineering. Knowledge of equipment design theory. Knowledge of repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and overhaul of equipment. Ability to lift equipment and materials, up to 50 lbs, in order to transfer items from the shop to the labs and vice versa. Knowledge of computer-aided drafting and solid modeling systems, e.g., AutoCAD, Pro-Engineer or I-DEAS, to be able to assist students in designing and building projects. Follows all University policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible journey-level experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of scientific or technical mechanical equipment, including one year involving design modification and fabrication of complex and highly technical equipment required.

Compensation
The salary range for this classification is $4,394 to $7,950 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for 2 years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
