Job Summary

The Library Systems Lead is responsible for the overall administration, daily operations, management, and integrity of the Integrated Library System (ILS). CSULB belongs to the CSU system wide Unified Library Management System (ULMS), which all CSU libraries participate in. This position is a designated ULMS Certified General System administrator. In addition, this position is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the University Library's electronic resources (databases, e-book packages, streaming media, etc.).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook primarily). Able to communicate skillfully, accurately, and respectfully with faculty, staff and students. Experience with OCLC's EZProxy software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a library setting. Experience and knowledge of library policies, procedures, and philosophy. Thorough understanding of library collections, its organization and classification standard. Knowledge of institutions and libraries' policies and practices associated with ethical use of and access to library and online resources. Knowledge of library bill of rights and code of ethics (American Library Associated Bill of Rights).

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
  • Completion of a high school education or equivalent and two years of related library and/or clerical experience required.
  • Five years of related library and/or clerical experience preferred.
  • At least 4 years working in a library setting strongly preferred.
  • ExLibris ALMA experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Masters of Library and Information Science strongly preferred.
Licenses / Certificates

ExLibris ALMA Training certification Required within 3 months of hire.

Compensation

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,998 - $7,376 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
