The University of North Texas (UNT) is a Carnegie-designated Tier One Research University, Minority Serving Institution (MSI) and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), conveniently located in the Dallas -Fort Worth – Denton metropolitan area, the economic and cultural hub of north-central Texas.
The UNT Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology provides the finest graduate professional education in both speech-language pathology and audiology while maintaining an excellent undergraduate degree program. The department stresses excellence in teaching, research, and service by its faculty and students. As a component of the educational program, the department operates the UNT Speech and Hearing Center. The Center offers professional services to members of our campus community and the general public for the purpose of providing clinical training for students. The Center offers state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology offers a B.S. degree program in Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology, an ASHA-accredited M.S. degree program in Speech-Language Pathology, and an ASHA-accredited Au.D. degree program in Audiology. The department and its faculty are members of the College of Health and Public Service (HPS), which offers a Ph.D. degree program in Health Sciences with concentration areas in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology, Behavior Analysis, and Applied Aging and Rehabilitation Science. Departmental faculty have established ties with transdisciplinary departments across campus, including the Texas Center for Performing Arts Health, and with major clinical and educational organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, across the state, and nationally and internationally, which fosters problem-focused collaboration building.
The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas prepares graduates to address diverse and complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and to find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban design. HPS encompasses seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE), and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society.

Full-time, tenure-track, nine-month position at the rank of Assistant Professor of speech-language pathology beginning AY 2022-2023. Summer teaching is possible contingent upon departmental needs, faculty availability and funding. Responsibilities are to conduct research in area of expertise; to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level; to seek extramural funding; and to participate in scholarly, service and clinical activities, as applicable.
Candidate must hold an earned doctorate in communication sciences and disorders, or a related field
The ideal candidate should have research/teaching expertise and interests in one or more of the following areas: motor speech disorders, dysphagia and swallowing, traumatic brain injury, cognitive-communicative disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, fluency, or voice disorders. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of research productivity and success in obtaining extramural funding. The competitive applicant will demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and/or service that supports equity and inclusion for all in the academic community. Preference will also be afforded to candidates with clinical certification: CCC-SLP and eligibility for Texas State Licensure.
