JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Psychology invites applications for one (1) full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment (at assistant or associate professor) commencing September 1, 2022 to teach at New Jersey City University (NJCU) William J. Maxwell College of Arts & Sciences.
The NJCU School Psychology program has long enjoyed a fortuitous location in a very diverse city and embraces the goal of providing culturally competent training and diverse ethnic and linguistic field experiences. This is synergistic with the goal of building cultural competence in its candidates, infusing issues associated with social justice, racism, inequity, and privilege throughout its curriculum. In addition, candidates will be expected to maintain an active and sustained research agenda in their respective field, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and presses.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will be required to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and play a central role in the development of a nascent Doctor of Psychology program in School Psychology. The finalist will carry out the program functions including the supervision of doctoral dissertations and advisement to graduate students in school psychology at the specialist and doctoral level.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Psychology with a focus or extensive work in School psychology. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and an active research agenda involving undergraduate and graduate students at an urban comprehensive university.
EDUCATION: Candidates should also be certified or eligible for certification as a school psychologist and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the State of New Jersey. In extraordinary cases, as determined by the University, a terminal degree may not be required.
EXPERIENCE: in counseling approaches appropriate for school settings, interest in furthering the social justice focus of the graduate programs with associated research potential, and can perform bi- or multi-lingual assessments.
