Job Description

The School of Nursing at Salem State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary faculty position to teach pediatric nursing. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to teach in our dynamic undergraduate nursing program. This is a full-time, one-year, temporary position with an option to renew for an additional 3 years.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Faculty are expected to contribute to policy and curriculum development in the School of Nursing, and collaborate on all components of the systematic evaluation plan.

Required Qualifications:

A Master of Science in nursing (MSN); a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience; evidence of expertise in pediatric nursing. Candidates must possess or be eligible for Massachusetts RN license.

Preferred Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related discipline; evidence of beginning program of research; experience in the development of undergraduate nursing curriculum, knowledge in instructional technologies, program development and evaluation; and experience in and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students from diverse backgrounds. Previous teaching experience at the college/university level is strongly preferred.
