(Archived) Faculty, Sport and Movement Science (PE Education), Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Fall 2023

Overview:
The Sport and Movement Science Department offers content courses for three physical education teacher education programs. There are two programs that lead to initial licensure in physical education include the 4+1 Bachelor Science/MEd in Physical Education and Masters of Arts in Teaching Physical Education. The Masters of Education Leadership in Physical Education for candidates pursuing professional licensure in physical education or for educators engaging in professional development. Faculty responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate physical education methods courses, instructing activity courses, developing strong relationships with surrounding public schools, supervising and placing physical education student teachers, leading pre-practicum and practicum seminars, advising students with academic and career decisions, and lead-faculty roles and responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have a doctorate degree in physical education, or education and teaching experience in physical education at either secondary schools and/or elementary schools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Massachusetts physical education teacher licensure requirements; experience in distance learning and instructional technologies; and an abiding interest in community involvement as well as demonstrated expertise in the use of movement for socioemotional learning/recreation and community wellness.
