Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a part-time, faculty member. The successful candidate will: •Be able to assist students and faculty during the cadaver dissection laboratory sessions. •Come prepared for the areas of the body to be dissected that day. •Review the pertinent anatomy in the course atlas and dissector beforehand. •Guide students in the technical aspects of their dissections in line with the course lab instructions. •Have familiarity with medical school level of detail in anatomy dissections throughout all areas of the body. •Help students identify all structures on the assigned lab list in their cadavers. •Perform other duties as requested by the anatomy faculty.Educational Requirements for the Position
A PhD, DO, MD or equivalent terminal degree in a related field from an accredited University is required.
Experience Required for the Position
At least 2 years of experience teaching in a human anatomy laboratory utilizing cadaver dissections. Teaching experience to medical students is preferred. Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within a diverse faculty is required.
Other Specifications
Familiarity with general safety protocols regarding work with human tissue and sharp instruments.
The individual(s) selected for the position will be asked to work at a part-time status beginning July 2022 and ending in October 2022.
