Job Summary
The Associate Director and Outreach under the general supervision of the Director of COB's Center for Student Success, the incumbent oversees operations of and coordinates advising and outreach programs for the College of Business's Center for Student Success. The position of Associate Director and Outreach provides critical support for programs and initiatives designed to strengthen the academic success and retention of all COB undergraduate students. In addition, this position provides high level, complex, comprehensive undergraduate advising on university academic requirements, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the Director of the COB Center for Student Success with supervision of day-to-day operations of the CSS including general undergraduate academic advising process and programs.
- Independently advises undergraduate students about academic requirements.
- Coordinates COB's outreach activities in collaboration with the Director of COB's Center for Student Success, as well as supervises the CSS Staff members that will be participating in the activities and advising incoming prospective students.
- Assists Director with COB's training of new advisors.
- Proven experience working with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and ability to be a team player.
- Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills.
- Exhibits excellent organizational skills, prioritizes responsibilities, and meets project deadlines.
- Exhibits strong critical and creative thinking skills, sound decision making and objectivity.
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, is desired.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and three years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.
- Demonstrated academic advising experience in a college/vocational setting, preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain advising programs, preferred.
- Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,025 - $7,159 per month.
Benefits

Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
