Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Bob Murphy Access Center (BMAC), and lead of the Support Services Coordinator, this position will serve as Support Services staff, performing a variety of student/faculty-facing duties to support the operations of the BMAC Support Services program. This position provides program coordination and organizational support for the functions of the department including student/faculty services, addressing general information inquiries, answering accommodation inquiries, and providing classroom and campus support services to students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily counseling to students in crisis, anxiety, and panic during testing situations and provide independent disability management along with follow up and referral where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with Student Conduct and Ethical Development to address student academic integrity issues that arise during testing.
  • Provides implementation of BMAC Classroom and Campus Support Services (e.g., notetaking, Smart pen, tutoring, accessible parking, accessible furniture, scooter requests, standardized exam/information release requests), in addition to the coding of BMAC students and assisting with data collection and program analysis.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Housing Act, and FERPA. Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Working knowledge of standard work practices. Strong written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills to diplomatically and effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and University staff and faculty, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and overall organization. Ability to use PC and Macintosh computers. Ability to input data and manage databases. Ability to use Microsoft Office.

Ability to work under pressure and remain calm and focused, and to calm and give focus to others in an extremely hectic fast-paced work environment. Skill in working independently with minimal direction in setting priorities and schedules and in identifying and adhering to departmental objectives. Ability to apply independent, reasoned judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough, and technically accurate solutions.

Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and one year of directly related experience required.
  • Equivalent amounts of graduate level job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Background working with students with disabilities at an educational level (K-12, community college, and/or University) preferred.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $4,066- $4,248 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,764 - $4,604 per month.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
