Job Summary
The Student Services Specialist provides students with quality assistance by conveying clear and concise information, advice, and service on a wide range of complex academic policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, process, and update transactions for students, including cashiering, in support of Enrollment Services activities.
- Respond to inquiries by accessing on-line information and utilizing reference materials to assist customers with policies, procedures, and fees related to Enrollment Services activities.
- Process and record registration activity requests (e.g., add, drop, change grading option, etc.).
- Anticipate and assist with clarification of customer needs both internally and externally, then deliver optimal, timely solutions, making appropriate referrals if necessary.
Good customer service skills and the ability to effectively utilize them while professionally representing Enrollment Services and the University in a fast-paced environment with many interruptions. Demonstrated ability to clearly explain a variety of complex policies and procedures to students, the general public and to other campus employees' in-person and on the phone. Demonstrated ability to obtain, assimilate, relay, and clarify information to others in a fast-paced environment in which information and procedures change on a regular basis. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public. Ability to communicate with ethnically and culturally diverse populations. Data entry and information retrieval experience, preferably with a web-based student information system. Ability to treat all customers (students, faculty, and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness, and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision. Demonstrates empathy, fairness and professionalism when providing service to all customers, including students, faculty, and staff colleagues. Asks questions to clarify customer priorities and needs in order to deliver the best possible or most viable solution to meet those needs, making appropriate referrals as needed.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required. Cashiering experience preferred.

Compensation
Anticipated hiring Range: $3,338 - $3,400 per month.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,338 - $4,913 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
