Job Summary

The Department Coordinator plans, organizes, and directs the administrative operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities

  • Department Administration: Responsible for all aspects of office management. Serves as an on-going source of information about policies, procedures, and practice.
  • Budget and Financial Planning: Prepares, maintains, and processes records of all fiscal transactions funded by General Fund, CERF, Lottery, IRA, or Foundation accounts. Regularly monitors balances in all operating expenditure accounts, apprises chair of status of various accounts, and makes recommendation for budgeting of resources.
  • Personnel: Acts as a liaison on personnel matters and maintains confidential files for both faculty and staff employees.
  • Student Services: Serves as an ongoing resource for academic information and services required by students enrolled in any of the degree or certificate programs offered by the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate efficiently (verbally and written). Ability to properly function in diverse department. Knowledge of current principles/practices used in the management of a complex department. Ability to carry out professionally complex assignments independently and effectively. Knowledge of budget and fiscal resources, allocations, and accountability. Ability to develop and deliver essential information through written and oral communication. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships w/students, faculty, and staff. Proficiency in using modern office equipment including microcomputer applications.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month.

    Time Base

    Full-time temporary position for 2 years no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
