Major Duties

Under general supervision, the E-Learning Technology Specialist works independently as well as collaboratively with the Instructional Designers (ID) to scope, initiate, design and assist with development of the current E-Learning and multimedia assets to augment Tseng College's online and hybrid courses. The incumbent acts as the main contact person in the allocation of tasks and management of Student Assistants employed in Distance Learning.

  • Leads and collaborates with IDs in the online course production process, in the design and implementation of faculty training programs, and in the identification of new and relevant technical tools used for online learning.

  • Researches, evaluates, recommends latest and relevant technology solutions for online learning and training.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all data related to assigned programs is kept securely and in keeping with CSUN data security policies and best practices.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, education/instructional/information technology or related field. Master's degree is strongly preferred.

  • Certification training and applied experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis.

  • Three years of full-time, progressively responsible field-related experience that includes knowledge of relevant hardware, software, maintenance, and user support.

  • Experience with applying ADA compliance rules in the online learning environment and experience with applying copyright compliance rules in the online learning environment is preferred



    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of a variety of software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems. Functional knowledge of ADA compliance for online learning environments; copyright compliance for online learning environments.

  • Knowledge of copyright compliance for online learning environments is required; experience with applying copyright compliance rules in the online learning environment is preferred. Highly proficient in MS Office Suite and a variety of relevant technology solutions which may include knowledge of HTML and CSS, some programing languages, and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite. Media production skills in a plus.

  • Ability and specialized skills to: identify, analyze and address user needs and problems, and propose effective solution; understand functional and procedural requirements, develop alternative solutions and relate them to departmental management and staff.

  • Very strong English verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively write/develop letters, reports, presentations, summaries, design specifications, technical training documentation for a variety of audiences. Ability to conduct trainings and creating training resources and tools. Demonstrated ability to give oral presentations to groups, and communicate effectively in one on one conversations about complex issues. Ability to provide and receive constructive criticism and feedback.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.

  • Classification / grade:

  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4678 - $6667 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4678 - $11,547 per month.

  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.

  • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.

  • The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
