Job Summary
Under the direction of the campus Risk Manager, the incumbent supports risk management administrative services to the campus including monitoring of risk management processes and procedures to reduce and eliminate risk factors to the campus, conduct site visits when an incident occurs and provide reports for risk mitigation, maintain the Risk Management website for accuracy, and work with the Procurement Services department to provide an initial review of insurance documents.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and writing skills are necessary. Knowledge and experience with reviewing insurance documents preferred. Maintains current knowledge of risk management, loss control/loss prevention and claims management theories, principles, techniques, best practices, in the insurance markets and risk management industries. Excellent analytical skills and familiarity with basic risk evaluation technics and analysis. Demonstrated strong analytical, planning, organizational and presentation skills and abilities. Ability to understand the insurance requirements contained in requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, agreements and related documents. Ability to demonstrate success in implementing, managing and completion of projects and in a complex environment. Ability to communicate at all levels within the University and with external customers. Knowledge of contractor/consultant administration. Knowledge of loss control and worker's compensation principles and practices. Knowledge of organizational planning, budgeting, and project management principles. Possession of Associated Risk Management (ARM-P) certification, Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, or other related certification preferred.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience required.
  • Public sector experience in risk management, including risk assessments, enterprise risk management, and/or controlled self-assessment preferred.
  • Related experience in a university or college setting is preferred.
  • CA Driver's License preferred.

Compensation
The targeted salary may be set as high as $3,987 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $3,288 to $6,347 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
