Reporting to the Sergeant, the employee receives detailed instructions and broad guidelines on the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities. Independence in judgments and methods of operations will be expected, ensuring that all actions conform to the parameters of Department policy. The incumbent may rotate among day, evening and night tours of duty and may be required to rotate among various assignments at the discretion of the Field Operations Captain or the Chief of Police. Employee may be required to work overtime. Provides community leadership in establishing a secure and peaceful environment that contributes to a meaningful learning atmosphere; to provide direct support to the Watch Commander or Unit Supervisor.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of law enforcement methods, traffic control and arrest & safety procedures.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Valid California Driver's License. Must meet employment requirements established by P.O.S.T and state law. Must possess Basic P.O.S.T Certificate.
The targeted salary may be set at $6,097 per month based on experience.
