Job Summary
Under the general direction of the executive director, the communications/marketing specialist develops, manages, and oversees implementation of all marketing, audience development, and public relations activities of the Carpenter Performing Arts Center (CPAC). Provides support to executive director with CPAC fundraising and development, including all CPAC special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop concept, provide primary art direction, and manage implementation of engaging marketing collateral, including direct mail; outdoor; social media platforms; CarpenterArts.org website; lobby display sign and video; print, digital, and on-air advertising.
- Direct and oversee work assignments to marketing staff.
- Research performances for purposes of informing pricing, copy, target audiences, strategic efforts, income projections. Evaluate and reassess on an ongoing basis.
- Expand upon and further develop existing CPAC donor recognition program for individuals, corporations, and foundations. Manage donor memberships and membership renewals. Assist Executive Director in creating and managing all development materials, including but not limited to membership, donations, and fundraising.
- Oversee communications with media representatives, creating a clear, positive, and effective image of the theatre with outside, community, and campus media.
Content strategy, content creation and social media management for the performing arts, music industry or similar field. Knowledge of current trends in arts marketing, with emphasis on performing arts centers locally and nationally; familiarity with the performing arts field and its various disciplines. Experience with Digital and Print Ad Buys. Experience with Digital Marketing Analysis in live events including Direct to Consumer platform, CX Customer -Experience, PR Measurements, Facebook Business Manager, and Google Analytics. Knowledge and demonstrated success of utilizing social media platforms and their communities and how to optimize performance across activations. Excellent time management skills to plan and execute multiple ongoing projects simultaneously with the ability to meet deadlines and manage staff effectively. Excellent writing and editing skills; keen sense of market share and target marketing. Ability to create and implement effective marketing efforts. Ability to create effective relationships with volunteers, vendors, campus community and public. Ability to make effective presentations to individuals/groups, and to work effectively alone and as part of the Carpenter Center team. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with donors, community partners and audience members. Some experience with fundraising and donor relations.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Required:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related professional or technical experience required.
Preferred:
Three (3) years of experience in communications strategy for the performing arts, music industry or similar field highly preferred, or similar field and a demonstrated ability to create compelling communications across multiple platforms. Experience cultivating and maintaining positive relations with media representatives.

Compensation
$4,104 to $6,600 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $4,104 to $7,425 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for three (3) years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
