Job Summary
This position is responsible for determining the admissibility of first-time freshmen and graduate/post baccalaureate applicants to the University and CCPE Distance Learning Programs. The incumbent manages the Admissions ticketing system and responds to all inquiries in a professional and timely manner; Answer all phone inquiries received in the unit while providing service excellence standard; communicates with students, parents, and counselors about the admission process and admission requirements; resolves admission processing problems; determines residency status for admission and tuition purposes; responsible for data entry of application information for all new and returning applicants to the University. Responsible for coding and data entry of applications, changes to data, and verification of data in PeopleSoft. Acts as liaison with graduate advisors in the academic departments and advisors in the various credential programs offered by CSULB. Disseminates information regarding University policies and procedures for graduate studies to applicants, faculty, staff and the general public.
Key Responsibilities

  • Codes, enters data, and reviews applications for completion.
  • Calculates GPA and determines eligibility, provides an admission evaluation for admission of first-time freshmen and graduate/post-baccalaureate applicants.
  • Utilization of various software packages such as Word, Excel, OnBase, Visual Info, Outlook for communication and tracking of student files. Responsible for initial and final review of freshman, and graduate applications.
  • Acts as liaison with the graduate advisors, credential program advisors, department personnel and applicants for the resolution of admission issues and the dissemination of information regarding University policies and procedures. PeopleSoft & OnBase Imaging.
  • Assists with recording degree requirements, degree audits and posting degrees.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Data entry/computer (PeopleSoft) experience. Preferred experience with various software packages such as Microsoft windows, Microsoft excel, Microsoft word and Microsoft PowerPoint and Onbase. Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, staff and others regarding admission requirements, policies and procedures and promote a "student friendly service" image of Enrollment Services. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with a large volume of documents, organize and coordinate different clerical tasks, set deadlines and complete projects successfully. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex unit, department and university policy and procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate with ethnically and culturally diverse communities.

Compensation
The salary range for this classification is $3,276 to $5,148 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
