Job Summary
This position serves a primary data and reporting function for the College of Education. The Data Specialist will assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting out data in support of accreditation, compliance reports, student and program-level assessments, surveys, dashboards, and other related data needs. Compiles and analyzes data for historical trend tracking, and crafts reports and presentations. Updates and maintains College data tracking spreadsheets, monitors a variety of student success dashboards, and provides data to inform program improvements. Meets all deadlines under the supervision of the Assessment and Accreditation Assistant Director and the Associate Dean of Credentialing and Community Engagement. Communicates and disseminates information to various college offices and units as requested. Supervises student assistants.
Key Responsibilities
- Date Collection, Analysis, and Reporting: provides College and programs with data and reports to ensure smooth operations through data collection, analyses, and regular report preparation.
- Database Management and Support: Structures, implements, and maintains databases and technology for assessment systems and maximizes use of existing CSU, CSULB, and CTC dashboards to inform continuous improvement.
Working knowledge of research techniques and methods of preparation of research reports. Working knowledge of statistical principles and procedures, including methods of frequency series, data, simple correlation methods, sampling techniques, and construction of index numbers. Ability to assist in preparation of questionnaires, gathering and analyzing research data, and in compiling data for reports and summaries in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form; ability to prepare clear and concise reports. Ability to carry out professionally complex assignments and independently plan and develop sound approaches and solutions to meet departments program, faculty, and student needs. Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with program faculty, academic departments, the dean's office, and a variety of offices and individuals within the college and across campus.Data analytic skills and experience working with Windows, Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Tableau (IR Dashboard) email, Excel spreadsheets, databases, student success dashboards, Canva design, CMS, and infographic programs. Basic staff supervision experience. Professionalism in engaging with constituencies to develop and deliver essential information through written and oral interactions.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related technical research or statistical work experience required, preferably in K-12 or Higher Education.

Compensation
The targeted salary may be set as high as $4,500 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $3,288 to $6,347 per month.

Additional Information
