Job Description

Ball State University welcomes application for an Assistant Director for Facilities Planning and Custodial Operations. Join a talented team of Housing and Residence Life professionals at Ball State University! Manage custodial operations and facilities planning in the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Supervise custodial staff, develop custodial training programs, and develop custodial and facilities planning programs. Assist the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life in all aspects of the overall management of residential facilities, planning, and operations. Provide leadership in our facilities planning process including development of a regular replacement plan for furnishings, equipment, and materials in University Housing. Serve as a member of the Housing and Residence Life Leadership Team and serve on regular on-call duty rotations. This person will utilize a framework of equity and inclusion in all aspects of their day-to-day work and support the success of our residential students. Position Function: Represents the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life Facilities in departmental and campus work in the absence of the associate director. Manage custodial operations and facilities planning in the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Supervise custodial staff, develop custodial training programs, and develop custodial and facilities planning programs. Assist the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life in all aspects of the overall management of residential facilities, planning, and operations. Provide leadership in our facilities planning process including development of a regular replacement plan for furnishings, equipment, and materials in University Housing. Serve as a member of the Housing and Residence Life Leadership Team and serve on regular on-call duty rotations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in building construction management, industrial technology, architecture, or related field. Associates degree from an accredited institution in a related field plus two additional years of related experience. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an unrelated field with four years or related experience. Three years of related experience at the supervisory level.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in building construction management, industrial technology, architecture, or related field. Five years of experience in facilities planning, architecture, custodial operations at the supervisory level. Work experience in residential facilities/university residential housing.
