Educational and Experience Requirement Associates degree in art, design, marketing, advertising, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years of experience in an agency, in-house marketing environment or related field. Experience with computer graphics hardware and software. Experience in Higher Education is desirable. Certifications may be required. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position Performs advanced graphic design duties or services for the Marketing and Communications Department.
Primary Responsibilities Works with the Associate Director of Creative Services and University clients to design and produce high-quality impactful visual materials in both print and digital formats that support and advance the University’s brand, outreach efforts, and strategic communication objectives. Conceives, produces, and enhances marketing collateral, advertising, and other media. Responsible for directly managing and building relationships with assigned University clients. Manages time-sensitive projects and plays a key role in maintaining an efficient production workflow. Provides art direction and conceptualized design work with abstract thought. Prepares production and cost estimates. Sets and tracks project timelines for progress and completion and prepares the final design for production. Determines specification, color schemes, size layout, photography, and graphic placement for projects. Edits text as needed. Assists in developing, communicating, disseminating, and enforcing University brand, graphic, and production standards. Creates and oversees graphics for monument digital signage. Liaisons with internal and vendor technology departments for sign upgrades and/or repairs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications Proven knowledge and experience in typography, graphic design and layout, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, writing, editing, proofreading, web development, and photography. Proven skills in creativity and possess the ability to coordinate multiple deadline-driven projects and express initiative. Works in conjunction with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and contractors including but not limited to graphic designers, photographers, and printers.
