The J. Willard Marriott Library seeks a proactive and creative librarian to join our faculty as the Collection Development Librarian. This highly collaborative, tenure-track position offers an opportunity to work with committed and knowledgeable colleagues who are dedicated to making scholarly resources available to a diverse community of students, faculty, and researchers. Reporting to the Head of Collection Management, you will be responsible for a broad range of collection development activities, with a particular focus on overseeing print and electronic serials resources. You will play a key leadership role in ensuring access to information for teaching and scholarship. You will serve as a primary collection development contact for librarians, library staff, patrons, faculty, other libraries, and vendors.
You will use your knowledge of scholarly publishing to act as a steward of the Library collections, make general collection development decisions, and promote our collections to students and faculty. Collaborating with both library colleagues and the campus community, you will identify, acquire, and process journals, databases, books, and other media needed by the campus community. You will use your analytical skills to make data-based decisions and monitor budgets, prepare assessments, and provide estimates and reports for selectors, faculty, and administrators. The position requires someone who can work effectively across organizational lines to accomplish shared goals and communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds. Working in a fast-paced, future-oriented research environment requires adapting to changing needs and priorities while using interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships.
As a member of the faculty, you will engage in your own scholarly activities and develop as a professional with support from peers, mentors, and administrators who are invested in your success. While this position focuses primarily on collection development, all faculty librarians serve the needs of University faculty, staff, and students along with members of the local community. You will assist with implementing the Marriott Library’s Strategic Directions, liaise with one or more academic departments, and remain professionally active through participation in appropriate professional societies and a robust research and publication program.

- ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS or the equivalent combination of a relevant degree and experience working in an academic library.
- Evidence of potential to meet the professional requirements of a tenure-track position through research, librarianship, and service.
- Appointment at the Assistant Librarian level will require demonstrated potential for scholarly engagement and evidence of a clear research focus.
- Appointment at the Associate Librarian level will require advanced research and librarianship to qualify for tenure at time of appointment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with library colleagues and the campus community.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Interest, coursework, or experience in collection development and serials.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.

Compensation: $55,000-65,000 dependent on qualifications, plus excellent benefits including a 14.2% retirement contribution to TIAA-CREF/Fidelity, medical and dental coverage, and generous paid sick and vacation time.
