Job Summary
The Library Assistant - Periodicals & Serials assists the Technical Services department by processing print and electronic periodicals and serials. This position performs, but is not limited to, processing invoices, receiving incoming physical materials, and verifying the accessibility of electronic subscriptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process periodicals and serials utilizing library systems.
- Maintain library systems records up to date.
- Demonstrated capacity to swiftly learn and apply policies and procedures related to the assigned functional work area, given the dynamic nature of library systems and the constantly evolving information landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with vendors and publishers via email or phone.
- Ability to utilize library systems, subsystems, and modules to effectively perform assigned tasks.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience - Completion of a high school education or equivalent and two (2) years of related library and/or clerical experience required (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered).
- Basic knowledge of library terminology and bibliographic forms and structures strongly preferred.
Physical Summary
Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: $3,382 - $3,650 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,382 - $5,659 per month

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
