Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Health Sciences invites applications for one (1) full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment. Commencing September 1, 2022 to teach at all New Jersey City University (NJCU) School of Business campuses including the Jersey City and Monmouth County, New Jersey campuses. The Department of Health Sciences offers degree programs: (1) Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education, and one minor in Public Health Education, (2) Bachelor of Science in Teacher of Health, (3) Master of Science in Health Administration, (4) Master of Science in Public Health Education, and (5) Master of Science in School Health. The candidate will need to teach the core courses in Health Administration, Public Health Education, and School Health. The core courses across the tracks include Epidemiology, Measurement and Interpretation of Data for Health Professionals, Techniques of Health Research, Health Education Theory & Practice, Health Policy, and thesis course. The Health Sciences Department anticipates expanding course offerings in health policy, management, and communication with emphases on social justice, inclusion, and equity. The candidate’s responsibility is to increase outreach to community partners and build on the graduate residency program.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will be required to teach advanced courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, will be expected to develop and implement a marketing campaign.

  • Teach the equivalent of full-time load courses online synchronous, blended, Hyflex, and face-to-face
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Attend meetings and maintain student’s records
  • Contribute to university, school, department, and professional services
  • Maintain active scholarship in an area of interest
  • Review and, as needed, revise existing program courses and curriculum

EDUCATION: Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Public Health, Health Administration and Services, Public Health Administration, and Health Policy or other related public health fields.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with online courses and technological tools in higher education
  • Experience teaching multicultural urban city students
  • Experience teaching on the graduate level
  • Familiarity with program evaluation and assessment
  • Commitment to diverse faculty and student populations
