Specialist III - Student Success Operations Specialist (full-time, temporary) at Sam Houston State University

Educational and Experience Requirement:

Associates degree in related field. Three years related experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs specialist duties related to tutoring and mentoring center operations in the Academic Success Center.
  • Works closely with center staff to plan, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate service floor and online service operations.
  • Supports center staff in appointment management.
  • Provides recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provides operational training to center staff in the center support software.
  • Coordinates and schedules student client appointments and student staff schedules.
  • Communicates and collaborates with center staff to understand operational needs.
  • Interprets policies and procedures. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports. Attends meetings. Prepares, reviews, revises and distributes reports, documents, and correspondence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Performs advanced specialist duties for the SHSU Academic Success Center.

Other Specifications

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Work hours will align with center hours, requiring some evening and limited weekend hours.

This is a full-time, temporary, benefits eligible, grant funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon continued funding. Funding expected to end on or before 08/31/2026.
