Ball State University welcomes applications for a Data and Decision Analyst. This position will provide institutional research support and independent data analysis to support the university administration in data driven decision making. Responsible for the collection, extraction, cleaning, analysis, and data management in preparation for and reporting of official university data to both internal and external constituents. In collaboration with the AVP is responsible for analyzing, validating, and managing institutional data coming from the student information database, Banner, and other ancillary system databases to develop valid, sustainable data practices. Support and participate in strategic planning and unit outcomes. Work collaboratively on projects with colleagues within and outside of the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support. Support the coordination, tracking, and analysis of student data.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology, or Statistics. Will consider other bachelor’s degree majors if the candidate completed 12 or more semester hours of coursework in statistical theory or completed a course that emphasized the application of statistical methods to specific subject matter fields, coupled with one year experience in statistical analysis, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. One year of experience as an analyst.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree from an accredited college or university. Three or more years of relevant work experience in accessing data from multiple sources to perform analyses and produce comprehensive reports; extensive experience with statistical software such as Stata, R, SPSS, and/or SAS and expertise in Microsoft Excel and Power Point; experience working with faculty data and faculty activity reporting system; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision; knowledge of IPEDS data collections; broad-based knowledge of higher education issues. Ability to work collaboratively and establish collegial working relationship with faculty, administrators and staff; demonstrated ability write clear concise reports and present technical information to a variety of audiences; ability maintain composure and good disposition in a deadline-driven, high-change environment; ability to handle situations and problems with sensitivity, attention to detail, timely follow-up, and complete confidentiality.; ability to adjust to new ideas, and excel at learning new things quickly and comprehensively; demonstrate a history of meeting deadlines, and setting and achieving goals; experience working with Banner and report writing in Argos environment highly preferred.
