The Ball State Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support is seeking an experienced BI Developer to join the Office of Decision Support. As the BI Developer, you’ll work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional specifications. You’ll analyze data to provide insights and support decision-making that aligns with the University’s strategic plan and supports student success. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in reporting, analysis and analytics.

Position Function: The Business Intelligence Developer in the Office of Decision Support is responsible for creating and maintaining data solutions to support the University’s strategic plan and student success initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional specifications that can be implemented using BSU’s data warehouse, operational data files, and business intelligence tools. This position is responsible for analyzing and understanding business requirements to design, develop, test and deploy reporting and analytical solutions to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions that support the University’s strategic plan and improve student success. The incumbent will also play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data used in reporting and analytics.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Statistics, Decision Support, Information Systems, or related field. At least one year of experience in business intelligence field.

Minimum Other: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in business intelligence field. Experience in a higher education setting. Proficiency in data warehousing and business intelligence tools such as SQL Server, Oracle, Tableau, Power BI, etc. Strong understanding of database design, data modeling and data warehousing concepts. In particular, experience with Redshift would be helpful. Experience in ETL processes and data integration.
