The School of Journalism and Strategic Communication invites applications for part-time instructors to teach online and/or on-campus, undergraduate and/or graduate courses beginning in Fall 2023 in advertising, journalism, media analytics, public relations, sports public relations, design and/or photojournalism.

Position Function: Teach online and/or on-campus, undergraduate and/or graduate courses beginning in Fall 2023 in advertising, journalism, media analytics, public relations, sports public relations, design and/or photojournalism.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in advertising, journalism, public relations, sports administration, mass communications, or field related to the classes taught by the date of appointment. OR a bachelor’s degree and evidence demonstrating a high level of professional proficiency and expertise in advertising, journalism, public relations, sports public relations, mass communications, or field related to the classes taught by the date of appointment.

  • Evidence may include:
    • High-quality portfolio and/or résumé including 5+ years of experience in relation to courses to be taught;
    • Evidence of leadership/management experience and/or evidence of professional experience in highly competitive professional media environments;
    • Nationally recognized license or certification;
    • Significant professional awards;
    • OR high-quality peer-reviewed scholarly and/or juried creative activities.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree from an accredited college or university in advertising, journalism, public relations, mass communications, or related field relevant to the classes taught; five years teaching experience; and five years professional media experience.
