Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Chair, the Department Coordinator plans, organizes, and directs the support operations of the Electrical Engineering Department and provides lead direction to support staff. Independently handles multiple work priorities and is accountable for own work results, using considerable independent judgment, discretion, and thorough knowledge of university infrastructure, programs, policies, procedures, and regulations to solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Department Administration - Serves as ongoing resource for academic information and services required by current or potential students in any of the nine degree programs offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering. Supervises and provides initial advisement contact with students, both in person and over the phone.
- Budget and Financial Planning - Assists the chair with financial planning and fund management, including all funds and special project accounts. Prepares analyses of current and anticipated budget problems.
- Staff/Academic Personnel Administration - Oversees the work of and provides direction, training, and guidance to the Administrative Support Assistant. Recruits, hires, supervises, oversees, and provides training to the student assistants/work study students who support the many tenured and part-time faculty members, ensuring accuracy and currency in meeting university deadlines.
- Course Scheduling and Classroom Assignment - Coordinate online course scheduling for academic year, summer, winter, and intersession courses. Also handles classroom and instructor changes and faculty appointments.
- Other Duties As Assigned
Ability to work independently on complex assignments, exercise initiative and establish priorities. Ability to communicate with precision and cordiality. Knowledge of budget and fiscal resources, allocations, and accountability.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Equivalent to five years of administrative support experience required.

Compensation
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,681 - $6,034 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for (2) years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
