Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the BMAC Director and lead of the BMAC Fiscal/HR Coordinator, the incumbent performs a variety of front office reception duties, student relations activities, and administrative and clerical duties that support the overall business and operational needs of the department. The Front Office Coordinator acts as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is responsible for opening and closing BMAC during business hours. This position provides departmental reception coordination and support that is equitable, inclusive, and provides culturally appropriate services to enhance the quality of campus life.
Key Responsibilities

  • Front Desk Reception - Serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and individuals who request information and assistance via calls, e-mail, or in-person.
  • Faculty and Student Relations Activities - Support students with disabilities, including parent students and pregnant students.
  • Administrative Duties and Clerical Support - Coordinate MyBMAC registration and appointment database maintenance and make modifications/updates as needed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle a broad range of on and off-campus contacts including faculty, administrators, and community partners. Must be culturally sensitive to the needs of students with disabilities from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Must have the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner during high-peak times throughout the semester. Must have the ability to learn computer software programs and platforms as needed to support the operations of the department.

Must have the ability to work calmly and well under pressure and multi-task when necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills and high level of self-motivation, and able to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals and maintain a positive and respectful attitude, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization. Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others.

Ability to consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position. Ability to lift 10-20 lbs of materials from office to various locations. Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential matters with tact and diplomacy, and to maintain confidentiality of information as needed or to protect the rights of individuals and the University. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

Equivalent to one year of administrative support experience required. Experience working with students with disabilities at an educational level (K-12, community college, and/or University) preferred.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $3,338 - $3,717.50 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,338 - $4,097 per month

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
