Job Summary

Under supervision and direction of the Director of International Enrollment Management, the Associate Director of International Admissions develops and implements workflow processes for timely admission of graduate, undergraduate and transfer applicants. The Associate Director also oversees the transfer credit entry for international students and domestic U.S. students who have non-U.S. transcripts.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight and leadership of International Admissions office's daily operational needs including general supervision, creation and implementation of international admissions and transfer credit policies and procedures, and ongoing monitoring of international graduate and undergraduate applications processing and transfer credit evaluations.
  • Collaboration and engagement with other international offices and the campus community including Enrollment Services, Athletics department, the American Language Institute (ALI), International Recruiting Office, the Office of International Students & Scholars, department chairs, staff and faculty in the academic colleges, while serving as a member of the CIE leadership team and serving on other campus committees representing the needs of international students and CIE.
  • Continual monitoring and review of international admissions processes and the department's effectiveness in meeting institutional goals. Identifying and incorporating ways to streamline and enhance the admissions workflow.
  • Current knowledge of and compliance with federal regulations and other
  • guidelines including NCAA, Department of Homeland Security and State Department policies concerning F1 and J1 visa students and scholars and SEVIS reporting. Serves as a DSO.
  • Provide necessary input and recommend policy revision and changes where necessary to the Associate Vice President of International Education and Global Engagement on admissions related matters.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and compliance with relevant NCAA and conference rules. Ability to oversee processes in a fast paced and complex environment. Ability to motivate staff to work efficiently and effectively. Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people. Knowledge of world educational systems.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and four (4) years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required. Four years of progressively responsible international admissions and recruitment experience strongly preferred. Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience preferred. Experience in foreign credential evaluation preferred. Knowledge of SEVIS requirements preferred.
Licenses / Certificates

A valid driver's license is preferred for this position. Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.

Compensation

CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,732 - $8,176 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
