Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Department Specialist and Department Chair, this position assists in managing an office of approximately 117 Academic employees 22 full-time faculty, 5 FERP, 77 lecturers, and 13 Teaching Assistants; ftes of 1,117.70 with a five BA's (772)with five options, second majors (36) four minors, (27) two certificates (33) and two Graduate programs with two options (144); serves as one of the primary resources for information regarding Department policy and practice for faculty, students, and staff; maintains Department files and records; providing continuity in policy and procedure; and processes all assignments, deadline, and paperwork required.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment and Personnel Records: Responsible for total confidentiality of the search process and all personnel processes, while working with multiple faculty. Schedule on-campus events, lectures, and interviews for finalists (with search committee, department, chair, dean of college, and designated representative of Provost's Office).
- Understand, disseminate and implement procedures, policies, and practices: Provides continuity of departmental policies, procedures and practices by providing information about policies and procedures.
- Communication: Serves as primary liaison between student, faculty, and administrators and the public.
- Curriculum: Assists the department curriculum committee, makes changes, forward to College Office.
- Technology Support: Maintains department website and posts new information as requested by faculty. Troubleshoots computer hardware and software problems for individual faculty.
- Assists with supervision and training of staff and student assistants.
- Program Support: Provide clerical support for Medieval renaissance Studies, English Single Subject and other programs housed in the Department.
Ability to carry out professionally complex assignments and independently plan and develop sound approaches and solutions to meet departments program, faculty, and student needs. Manage, plan, and execute various projects with specific deadlines. Some with longer cycle time i.e. annual or semester projects. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with program faculty, academic departments, the dean's office, and a variety of offices and individuals on and off campus. Create and implement appropriate program/events that foster student, faculty, campus, and local community relations. Excellent knowledge of Windows, Word, e-mail, spreadsheet, databases, webpages, website software, and CMS. Provide professional representation for the department to all constituencies. Develop and deliver essential information through written and oral interactions.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required. Academic department experience preferred. Bachelor's Degree Preferred.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,505 - $5,508 per month

Time Base
Full-time temporary position to June 30, 2024 with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
