Job Summary

The Administrative Coordinator is responsible for the administrative and fiscal services for the Ocean Studies Institute (OSI), a consortium comprised of 9 CSU campuses in southern California area.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all administrative and financial operations for Southern California Marine Institute/Ocean Studies Institute.
  • Manage front office operations: ordering supplies, coordinating meetings, gathering information, writing reports such as annual and quarterly reports, writing PR material (newsletters, brochures, flyers), property inventory, Human Resources timekeeping reporting, outreach development.
  • Collaborate with Director on all Human Resources procedures and oversee Risk Management Procedures.
  • Oversee, maintain, and update the SCMI's website and content.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of administrative/office support practices and procedures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to execute tasks with minimal supervision. Maintain professional discretion and confidentiality. Excellent organization, communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills required. Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The targeted salary for this part-time position may be set as high as $1,850/month depending on experience.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $1,752 - $2,754 per month.
Time Base

Part-time (.50 time-base/20 hours per week) temporary position for (6) months with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
