Job Summary
Working independently and under general supervision of the Associate Director for Student Success Analytics, the Data Analyst, IR&A, plays a crucial role in utilizing SQL, Oracle Databases, Data Warehouses, Data Analytic Software, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools to create, maintain, and report institutional data. The incumbent independently conducts data analyses and prepares data reports. The position plays a significant role in automating, querying, preparing, validating, and submitting mandatory data files to Chancellor's Office. This position will also assist senior analysts as needed. The incumbent will apply technical judgment to standard and nonstandard applications and systems. Working independently, they will solve a wide range of problems and develop practicable and thorough solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Works independently to utilize data querying software, tools, and techniques to prepare data reports and complete all aspects CSU mandatory reporting.
- Works independently to utilize data and BI tools and techniques to automate, coordinate publishing, and maintain departmental interactive dashboards.
- Works independently to utilize data analytic tools and software to design and conduct basic and advanced analytics and reporting.
High proficiency with programming languages (SQL, Python, R). Knowledge of Python, R, SQL and Tableau. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Data Visualization software. Ability to use Oracle database, data warehouse and SQL. Advanced knowledge of the methods used to gather and analyze research data and make appropriate recommendations. Advanced knowledge of statistical procedures and principles. Working knowledge of desktop work processing and spreadsheet software. Working knowledge of administrative survey principles and techniques. High competency with the gathering, compiling, and analyzing of research data. Ability to perform complex data analysis using data analysis Python libraries such as Pandas and Scikit-learn. Ability to present data in various media (e.g., paper, electronic, web-based). Expert knowledge of website utilities. Ability to write and speak clearly. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial/ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively and facilitate a customer service orientation

Education and Experience
Required: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related technical field and two (2) years of related experience required.
Preferred: Master's degree. Three (3) or more years of experience processing, cleaning, creating dashboards or other data visualizations. Three (3) or more years of experience developing, testing, and analyzing statistical or predictive models in a higher education or educational setting. Experience working with large complex data sets.

Compensation
The salary range for this classification is $4,678 to $11,547 per month.

Time Base
Full-time temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
