Job Description
The Honors College seeks nominations and applications for a dynamic, visionary leader for the position of Dean of the Honors College. The successful candidate will build upon the College traditions of innovative student-centered learning in a demanding and challenging curriculum that guides exceptional learners toward meaningful community engagement and academic leadership.
The Ball State University Honors College currently is, and aspires to remain, the most comprehensive honors college or program in the state of Indiana and among the most comprehensive in the nation. It provides specific programming for every aspect of the academic and social growth of undergraduates, through curriculum and the Honors Living-Learning Community. The Honors College directly addresses “High Impact Educational Experiences” as defined and described by the Association of American Colleges & Universities.

Position Function: Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of curricula, academic programs, outside resource development, and all activities of the College; plan, direct, and coordinate the operational, student, personnel, and budgetary activities of the College.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in the candidate’s academic discipline.
- Overall qualifications which merit a faculty appointment at a senior rank with tenure within one of the academic units of the university.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Freedom of Speech.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to collaborate with other areas of the university.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in honors education.
- Experience in developing external funding and participation in fund-raising activities.
- Participation in national organizations relevant to Honors College and the Honors experience.
- Liberal Arts and Humanities experience.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
