The Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for researching, analyzing data, collecting, and compiling background materials, data-mining reports and focused research on friends, parents, alumni and potential contributors to California State University, Long Beach. Under the general guidance of the Assistant Director of Prospect Research, the incumbent also performs related duties including proactive prospect identification, system updates, and prospect management updates to include contact report review, prospect record updates, and proposal tracking.
- Conduct the prospect research required to support the needs of the Division of University Relations and Development by compiling background materials, focused research (full biographies, donor profiles, data-mining reports/inquiries, and summary paragraphs, etc.).
- Assist in proactively identifying major gift prospects.
- Collaborate with Prospect Research Data Analyst in data mining our prospect pool in Advance and proactive pipeline assignment.
- Maintain prospect tracking data, review contact reports, enter/update proposals and accurately maintain prospect assignments.
Familiarity with biographic and financial research techniques using both printed and on-line sources. Preferred knowledge and understanding of SEC documents. Familiarity with basic fundraising techniques. Demonstrated customer-service orientation. Computer literacy, preferably with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access. Familiarity with computerized fundraising record systems, preferably Ellucian Advance Web platform. Maintains a safe work environment. Communicates with the University community in a civil manner

Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience required. Prospect research and/or prospect management experience in a charitable fundraising environment or academic fundraising experience desirable.
Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Nonexempt
The salary range for this classification is $3,518 to $6,791 per month.
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Full-time temporary position for (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
