Job Summary
Provide a safety briefing and supervise students in the appropriate and safe use of machine equipment and tools (including instruction in proper machine tool use and feedback on machine drawings) during the laboratory component of the Antelope Valley engineering degree completion program's MAE 272 course.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safety briefing
- Supervise students in the appropriate and safe use of machine equipment and tools
- Provide feedback to students regarding their machine drawings
- Provide feedback to the MAE 272 instructor on maintenance and upgrades to the machine tools
- Safety and risk management during the activities of the course
Knowledge of shop machines. Good communicator with students.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to two (2) years of experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to the discipline required. Professional Machinist experience preferred.

Compensation
The targeted salary may be set as high as $25.00 per hour based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $22.01 to $38.19 per hour.
Time Base
Hourly/intermittent, on-call, temporary position for one (1) year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
